|Lauren Conrad: Frugalista and fashion icon!|
For instance, this past weekend I did my hair in a ballerina bun (from their tutorial) along with cat-eye eyeliner (from their tutorial) while wearing skinny jeans with platform shoes (as advised by Lauren in this month's Allure magazine, to lengthen my legs). Anyway, I was in a full-on Lauren Conrad costume, practically, and felt great.
And I did all these things with stuff I already had at home! I didn't have to buy anything! If you have eyeliner and a bunch of bobby pins, you can do basically anything.
Anyway, Lauren recently posted this: The Kitchen Beautician. It's about using olive oil and coconut butter as a moisturizer. I have been using coconut oil for awhile as a moisturizer (it's SO GREAT) and, misremembering what she had posted about, last night I put olive oil on my hair as a conditioner.
It works SO WELL!!
|Lauren's shiny, shiny hair.|
My hair tends to get really, really tangley (this may be because I only brush it once a week, but that's just because it's so tangly it's hard to brush). Like, so tangly that my hairbrush and my comb are missing numerous teeth from breaking off in my tangled hair. So, I thought, rather than just washing my hair and doing my usual ripping-out-the-tangles-with-my-fingers procedure, I did the THRIFTY thing and put olive oil in my hair.
And then I got lazy (and caught up in watching the latest drama on The Killing and Game of Thrones - so sue, me, I have TV for one more month and have to make the most of it). So, the olive oil stayed in my hair for approx. 3 hours until I finally got up and shampooed it out (first, of course, de-tangling).
End result? Fantastic shiny, tangle-free, conditioned glorious locks!
Oh, and while I was watching TV and deep-conditioning, I was also working on my owl sweater. DIY MAY is still underway, and I think I will finish Owly later on this week. Hooray!
But anyway - Forget conditioner - hello olive oil!
