Day 122: Temptation Island

Remember this show? It was on TV when Survivor was first popular. It was about a bunch of "sexy" "singles" who were all put together in a hotel and some of them might cheat on their partners. Basically, Survivor without any of the fun bits, apart from hot bodies in bikinis.

What does this have to do with me? You will soon see.

So, today was my first day at my new job. Helpfully (heartbreakingly!) there are no Starbucks within any sensible distance, so I am going to do very well with my cutting-back-on-Starbucks plan. Also helpfully (horribly!) I will no longer be across the street from a mall, which will cut back on all of those supper break impulse nail polish purchases.

And charmingly (...) because of the lack of Starbucks/mall nearby, my new workplace has its own little "pick and pay" concession. This is a cute little shelf where staff can buy chocolate bars, candy, juice, etc. for a small fee (which goes toward buying more pick-and-pay snacks). There is even a frozen pick-and-pay section in the freezer, comprising of frozen burritos, etc.

And you guys. The thing is...

the pick and pay is RIGHT NEXT TO MY DESK.

I am now working, quite literally, on Temptation Island. But without any of the fun bits (i.e. swimsuits and beaches). Just the temptation part. Anyway, I have successfully survived one day of Temptation. But this is going to be difficult, you guys. But I will do my best.

Stay strong!

I mean, me? I'd be all up in those burritos, with chocolate smeared in my hair, wearing Coca Cola like a facial mask. But you? You stay strong.

Don't worry, you'll pick up momentum. Once you say "no", it's easier saying it again and again. :)

I think you should report this to OH&S...

I remember that show, it made me feel dirty.

Tempted by candy bars all day long, I don't know if I could do it. Chocolate is as much my friend as it is my sworn enemy.

Good luck!

Egads! That's just cruel. Make sure you have your own snacks on hand just in case you find yourself super-hungry.

Thanks for the support, guys. I've lasted two whole days! The secret is: face my chair away from the pick and pay.

Also, pack snacks from home.
